Abstract and Keywords

This chapter deals with the teaching of cognitive science. It begins with a discussion of the content of a cognitive science course, then discusses fundamental ideas in cognitive science, such as the distinction between basic and applied research. Next, it surveys some of the basic themes in cognitive science, such as the relative roles of genes and environment (the nature/nurture distinction) in the development of cognitive skills. Then, it considers pedagogy for teaching cognitive science. Next, it reviews research methods in cognitive science, such as various methods for studying the brain. It then presents tips for constructing a course on cognitive science, and, finally, draws some brief conclusions.
