Abstract and Keywords

This chapter examines the effect of services offshoring on the relative demand for white-collar workers in German manufacturing. Section 2 gives an overview of relevant theoretical and empirical studies that focus on the effect of offshoring on heterogeneous labor. Section 3 explains how services offshoring intensity is measured and shows its development in German manufacturing. Section 4 focuses on the effect of services offshoring on the relative demand for white-collar workers in German manufacturing. It first introduces the theoretical and empirical model, followed by a data description, the presentation of the regression results, and a discussion. Section 5 concludes.
