Abstract and Keywords

The “mental models” used in organizations often reflect disciplines such as finance, marketing or engineering. Such models can overlook or misinterpret evidence related to human capital, producing poor human-resource (HR) and organizational decisions. Improved evidence-based HR decisions may result from “retooling” HR issues using logic from mental models in other management disciplines. HR researchers and practitioners can tap the power of these well-accepted logic frameworks to “retool” evidence about HR management.
