Abstract and Keywords

Menttium Corporation integrates structured mentoring experiences into clients’ onboarding process in order to assist new employees as they embark on career transitions. Relational onboarding is considered as a preferred approach. Further, the mentoring experience is used to support current employees who are promoted into higher ranks of leadership within the organization. In both instances, the focus of the mentoring experience is on supporting the employee as he or she gains organizational cultural competence. This chapter describes the mentoring system used to facilitate successful onboarding of employees. The system consists of a comprehensive interview and match process, one-to-one and/or group mentoring, direct manager involvement, goal setting and tracking, and measurement. Measurement focuses on progressive developmental outcomes, performance gains, and retention rates, all of which are encompassed in the client organization’s Return on Mentoring.”
