Abstract and Keywords

This chapter’s core premise is that things work better when all efforts point in the same direction, integrated into one Total Onboarding Program (TOP). Onboarding gets new employees up to speed twice as fast as separate efforts to recruit, orient, and manage. The primary requirement is that the hiring manager lead each new employee’s onboarding experience all the way through, taking a proactive approach to socializing the new employee into the broader group with a particular focus on the most important relationships by: introducing the new employee to key stakeholders, behind-the-scenes networks, special projects, meetings and events, and connecting tools.
