Abstract and Keywords

This article studies gender violence, which is considered as violence against women in most literature. In this article, however, gender violence refers to violence against both men and women. The discussion begins with an examination of the constraints and recent trends of gender violence. It then considers the efforts of several feminist theorists who politicized male violence and summarizes empirical work on the responses of different states and regions to the claims of women’s movements to stop gender violence and its consequences. The article also looks at the global level of governance to gender violence and three key developments.

Keywords: gender violence, male violence, empirical work, women’s movements, level of governance
