Abstract and Keywords

This article examines the influence of culture, environment, and education on the musical lives of Hong Kong Chinese children. It shows that the musical expression and creativity of children feature a combination of tradition and change, and Chinese and Western attitudes and culture. Children express delight and heartfelt enthusiasm for the fun and sheer pleasure that music brings to them. They believe that music helps them achieve a balanced and healthy development.
