Abstract and Keywords

This chapter introduces the concept of posttraumatic growth (PTG), considering its prevalence among trauma survivors, the contexts in which it has typically been studied, and the critical role of meaning making in the growth process. Examining key findings from empirical studies of PTG reveals the dearth of research in occupational and organizational contexts, and highlights the potential contribution of a PTG lens to positive organizational scholarship. The chapter closes with a discussion of key challenges for our understanding of PTG and an agenda for future research in this important area.
