Abstract and Keywords

The emphasis in this chapter is on the Early Bronze Age archaeological record in Azerbaijan. The history of archaeological research at key sites like Yanik Tepe, Haftavan Tepe, and Hasanlu is reviewed. Links with the Early Transcaucasian Culture (ETC) further north are analyzed. Particular emphasis is placed upon chronology and the growth of social complexity over time, as well as on relations with sites in eastern Anatolia along the Upper Tigris.
