Abstract and Keywords

Population ageing is a global phenomenon. This demographic transition is occurring alongside other major global trends such as globalization and technological change. These trends are interrelated, and understanding the relationships between them is important if we are to develop innovative and successful models of ageing. Changing family dynamics, changing intergenerational relations and changing aspirations among older people will all need to be considered if we are to develop effective strategies to support active and healthy ageing in the twenty-first century.

Keywords: population ageing, demographics, epidemiology
