Abstract and Keywords

This article focuses on the court drama The Rare Triumphs of Love and Fortune. The play shares similarities with a range of dramatic works from the Tudor period and demonstrates shifting perspectives on Providence and Love from the work of the morality plays to the romantic comedies of John Lyly and the dramatic conventions of the 1580s and 1590s. The author blends conventions of love drama and romantic comedy as well as conventions typical of early English tragedy.
