Abstract and Keywords

This article discusses extensively the growing involvement of the for-profit sector, not only as a lobby but also as an active partner in international cooperation. It begins with the irony that intergovernmental organizations arose mostly in response to problems and opportunities created by capitalist industrialism, or what is now known as ‘economic globalization’. It also explores the complement to non-profit civil society in the for-profit business world.
