Abstract and Keywords

This article revisits some old issues about institutions and suggests some new considerations. The article is focused on micro-analytical aspects of institutions and on interpretations of institutions that are micro-analytical, and that explicitly involve human agency, and are game theoretic. It then determines how institutions are chosen and maintained, before moving on to a discussion of the Riker Objection and modes of procedural change.

Keywords: institutions, micro-analytical, interpretations, human agency, game theoretic, Riker Objection, procedural change
