This article seeks to provide a broad interdisciplinary overview of network institutionalism. It clarifies the meaning of the term ‘network’ and includes a brief survey of the techniques used to analyze networks. The article then focuses on five substantive domains where network institutionalism has been prominent, including markets and organizations.
