Abstract and Keywords

This chapter studies the influence of the media on political trust and engagement, first defining political trust and political engagement, and then identifying its antecedents. Next, it looks at the key political outcomes of media coverage and the consumption of such coverages, showing that there are different key mechanisms where mass media can improve or limit political trust and political participation.
