This book has truly been a team effort. First, a big thank you goes to all the authors who committed their time to writing chapters for this handbook. They shared their unique and diverse perspectives as well as ideas for future research. Every chapter was a pleasure to read, and, as a collection, it is a powerful body of work. We appreciate authors’ enthusiasm in saying “yes” when we approached them to contribute a chapter as well as their timely delivery of high-quality manuscripts.

Our advisors Steve Green and Bob Liden were our first introduction to Leader Membership Exchange (LMX) theory, and we value the high-quality LMX relationship we developed with them over the years. We also thank our colleagues at Portland State University (PSU) for their continued collegial support. The School of Business at PSU has continued to provide an empowering and enriching research environment.
