Abstract and Keywords

This article surveys the state of the question in Christian theological anthropology at the start of the twenty-first century. Given the variety of questions contemporary theologians take to be central to anthropology, the first challenge is to devise a framework that can both encompass their range and present them fairly. This article offers such a framework first and then uses it to organize the survey. It asks three main questions: What is the basic anthropological question raised by Christian practice and belief? What is the doctrinal home of theological anthropology? And, what is the proper conceptuality for theological anthropology?

Keywords: Christianity, theological anthropology, Christian practice, God's image
