Abstract and Keywords
This article explains the chronology of the archaeology study of the Levant. It explains that the ‘Jerusalem scheme’ was adopted for the archaeology of the entire Levant because of the influence of American archaeologist William F. Albright and of biblical archaeology. The article provides a table with a summary of the prevalent subdivisions of the chronology of the Levant as used in this volume and other contemporary publications. These include Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Proto-Urban Babylonian and Persian periods.
