Abstract and Keywords

This chapter argues that a transnational (as opposed to state-centric) perspective on legal development is essential (conceptually, empirically, and normatively) both for practitioners and for those who seek to understand and critique them; that it is best conceptualized with sociological imagination; and that it opens the door to the rehabilitation of the field of legal development into a more nimble and productive space for empirically informed experimentation.
