Abstract and Keywords

Abstract The chapters in the Handbook of Prevention in Counseling Psychology demonstrate an impressive range of important work being done in many areas of prevention and mental health promotion. Each chapter outlines important directions for future research and practice. In this concluding chapter, general issues related to the future of prevention in counseling psychology and psychology as a whole will be presented. Among these issues are the challenges and opportunities of integrating technology into prevention programs, the benefits of interdisciplinary collaboration and international perspectives, the importance of prevention as part of a social justice agenda, the need for counseling psychologists to engage in advocacy and outreach, and the relevancy of expanding definitions of program effectiveness.
