Anthony D. Pellegrini

Anthony D. Pellegrini, Ph.D., began the study of play over 30 years ago. During that time he explored the relatively unconnected research in ethology and developmental psychology; it quickly became clear to him that play was, in many ways, a paradigm example of developmental (both phylogenetic and ontogenetic) processes at work. To this end, he has been studying the development and functions of different forms of play in children’s lives. Dr. Pellegrini is Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota.
