Abstract and Keywords
This chapter summarizes survey findings and theories that can help employers understand factors affecting the retention of older workers. It then describes retention strategies such as flexible work schedules, phased retirement, creating an age-positive culture, fostering employee health and well-being, and providing training and development opportunities. The chapter closes with recommendations about best practices, approaches for choosing and tailoring retention strategies for each employer’s situation, and approaches for evaluating age management programs after implementation.
