Abstract and Keywords

This article introduces the oldest-attested Indo-European language, Hittite, also one of the first lost Anatolian languages to be deciphered. Today we have achieved a fairly sophisticated understanding of the Hittite language, as illustrated by an exhaustive recent grammar, a number of linguistic sketches, and several ongoing dictionary projects.
