Abstract and Keywords

This article provides an overview of Canadian women's political orientations, and their collective action through feminism. It discusses the participation of women in politics as individual citizens and as voters. The article also discusses the formal political arena and traces the efforts to elucidate women's persistent numerical and substantive underrepresentation in Canadian legislatures. It concludes with an overview of public policies that affect women's social and economic equality.
