Abstract and Keywords

This article discusses the interaction of the religious faith of the Americans and their economic policy attitudes. It provides a historical perspective of American Protestantism and the economy, followed by a discussion of the contemporary evangelical and mainline attitudes toward economic policy. It discusses American Catholicism and economic liberalism, and studies the attitudes of economic policy among minority religious traditions. The article ends with several suggestions for future research agendas.
