Abstract and Keywords

The Pacific Regional Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (RAP) (2012–2015) is recognized as a key regional mechanism in the advancement of gender equality and women’s rights in the Pacific. In particular, this action plan facilitates the substantive and meaningful participation of women across a diverse range of issues areas. The adoption of the RAP is part of a legacy of women’s peace activism. FemLINKpacific has been tracking the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 across the region and has established a regional media and policy network to inform the development of the Pacific RAP. This chapter highlights these experiences and insights with respect to the dissemination of knowledge across the Pacific region about the WPS agenda. A series of best practices are included, designed to ensure continued accountability within the regional intergovernmental peace-building architecture. Moreover, exploration of FemLINKpacific’s work provides valuable insights regarding the nature of productive engagement and collaboration on WPS in the Pacific.
