Abstract and Keywords

In this chapter, we address the question of what it means to recover from organizational injustice. We begin by briefly overviewing the existing literature on remedying justice violations, including individual and organizational responses to perceived injustice. Next, we offer a definition of recovery that focuses on moving beyond the initial violation to include the aftermath of injustice and the dynamic process through which individuals may interact, negotiate, and work with others to resolve and move past the situation. We also explore what recovery means from the perspective of employees and managers and how recovery may be facilitated within organizations, including interventions that may be particularly helpful in this process. Finally, we conclude by discussing theoretical, methodological, and practical implications that arise from this approach.
