Abstract and Keywords

This section contains four chapters that examine how feminist practice and theory have shaped global practices in sexual and reproductive health and rights. It explores the way transnational feminist movements at both the national and international levels have engaged in body politics by invoking the issue of human rights. The first chapter focuses on the shifting meanings of “ownership” of the body, while the second considers how transnational feminist movements have resorted to politics in their efforts to establish global policy norms for comprehensive health care as well as sexual and reproductive rights. The third chapter discusses the responses of different transnational feminist movements to the governance and regulation of sex trafficking and the sex trade. By emphasizing the borders and sites of control around the transnational sex trade, the chapter highlights the global and local sociocultural and economic relations involved in sex trafficking. In the fourth and final chapter, profeminism is analyzed in relation to masculinity and feminism in Latin America.

Keywords: reproductive health, transnational feminist movement, body politics, health care, sex trafficking, sex trade, profeminism, masculinity, feminism, Latin America
