Abstract and Keywords

This chapter highlights the limitations of defining research logic as generally “qualitative,” “quantitative,” or even a mix of the two. Key philosophical and practical “positions of research” on “axes of inquiry” are outlined in a way that allows researchers and their projects to either line positions up in standard ways, such as deductive quantitative data analysis or reflexive qualitative data analysis, or to enact synergistic mixes of positions on the axes. Mixed positions might result in reflexive quantitative data analysis or deductive qualitative data analysis. This mixed research perspective aims to invigorate the quality, reach, and contribution of all rigorous research (mono-method or mixed methods), no matter how its philosophical foundations or practical positions align.
