Abstract and Keywords

The objectives of this chapter are to illustrate issues in qualitatively-driven mixed-method designs by walking the reader through a project from idea to proposal completion. In this chapter I illustrate the process of conducting a mixed-method project using a hypothetical project. Strategies for maintaining rigor in mixed-method designs are addressed, using diagramming as a tool, the theoretical drive, the mechanisms of pacing, and the strategies for maintaining rigor. In addition, the chapter explores design issues and pitfalls that may occur when using qualitative methods with mixed-method design.
