Abstract and Keywords
This chapter calculates China’s embodied carbon emissions of 20 sectors from 1991 to 2009, based on the environmental input–output model and extrapolation technology. It then provides an empirical analysis of whether the Kyoto Protocol intensified carbon leakage to China, using a panel auto-regression model. If the empirical conclusion is proved, it means that the current territorial principle urgently needs to be revised. Otherwise, strict and fair climate agreement will be helpless in controlling global greenhouse gas emissions and promote climate cooperation.
