Abstract and Keywords

As a complement to the long-standing interest in organizations’ views, researchers have devoted significant attention to understanding recruitment and selection practices from the applicant’s perspective. Thus, an evolving research base examining applicant reactions has documented the antecedents and consequences of candidates’ perceptions of the selection process. This essay presents a review of the applicant reactions field, discussing recent research concerning the predictor, process, outcome, and person characteristics that shape applicant reactions and subsequent outcomes. Also highlighted are recent developments in this area and a discussion of future research needs.
