Abstract and Keywords

This chapter discusses reasons and methods for retaining older individuals in the workplace and recruiting those who have retired back to the workplace. Characteristics of older workers that organizations should retain and recruit are described. Factors associated with a healthy workplace for older individuals, including generational concerns and organizational culture, are also presented. After the case is made for retaining and recruiting older workers, several example scenarios are presented to make our retention and recruitment strategy implementation concrete. Finally, recommended methods for retention and recruitment are suggested.
