Abstract and Keywords

SOAR is an approach for framing strategy through a positive organizational scholarship (POS) lens. SOAR stands for strengths, opportunities, aspirations, and results. As a framework, SOAR focuses on formulating and executing a positive strategy by identifying and building strengths, feeding creativity in the form of opportunities, encouraging individuals and groups to share aspirations, and determining results. To explore SOAR as an approach for framing strategy through a POS perspective, this chapter examines the SOAR framework through several concepts in the strategy literature. In addition, this chapter presents recent empirical studies on SOAR to demonstrate why and how the SOAR framework supports positive strategy and future research questions. The chapter concludes with directions for future research.
