Abstract and Keywords

This article discusses the revolutionary implications of taking human rights seriously. It discusses two possible analytical lenses that can be used to examine the UN's story. One section highlights the struggle to move forward with the standard that societies should be governed by a basic respect for human rights and without discrimination. The acute difficulties of the UN using the bully pulpit while minding the principles of respect and confidence-building are also examined.
