Abstract and Keywords
This article presents an overview of what has been revealed archaeologically about the condition and key developments of Judah during the Iron Age II. It identifies Judah’s boundaries and describes archaeological remains from the tenth century through the beginning of the sixth. The analysis reveals a small, territorial- and/or tribal-based kingdom with a settlement pattern that differed markedly from the preceding Iron I and with a recognizable material culture that developed out of local traditions. The article also discusses Judah’ssocial and political organisation, its relationships with its neighbours and its religion.
Keywords: Judah, Iron Age II, archaeological remains, settlement pattern, material culture, social organisation, political organisation, religion
