Abstract and Keywords
This articlediscusses the key developments in the northern Levant, particularly in the Lebanese–Syrian Coast, during the Chalcolithic Period. During this period, new technical advancements of great importance were developed in the arts of stone tool production and metallurgy.The well-known sites of the Lebanese–Syrian coast dating from the Chalcolithic period reveal some of the economic, cultural, and social characteristics of these prehistoric Levantine societies. The article also describes the spatial organisation as well as the social and economic developments of Levantine societies during this period.
