Abstract and Keywords

Higher education across the globe is undergoing changes resulting from globalization, demographics, external pressure, and digital transformation. Polish universities are going through a process of transformation as well. They are yet to face significant challenges related to e.g. the increasing demographic low, problems with financing their activity, or the growing competition in the education services market. Universities have to become innovative and entrepreneurial to survive and compete effectively globally. An analysis of selected universities from Poland shows that they appear to be oriented towards e.g. serving the society, entrepreneurship, and establishing relationships with their environment. This suggests that there is a shift towards the entrepreneurial university model. But Polish universities, especially public ones, have little awareness of their strengths, which is a consequence of the model of higher education applied until recently.
