This article is concerned with the post-1985 social movements. These are the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) of Chiapas, the El Barzón debtor's movement, the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca, the environmental movement, and the Committee for the Unity of Tepoztlán.
