Abstract and Keywords

After decades of research on organizational socialization, much is now known about the important process of adjustment into a new organization and new organizational role. This chapter will focus on an overview of what organizations and newcomers do to help facilitate socialization. We will also review indicators of socialization, identify established outcomes of socialization as well as areas deserving of more attention, and will outline some potential new avenues for research.
