Abstract and Keywords

Questions related to human happiness and well-being continue to both fascinate and confuse. As this section attests, considerable progress has been made in understanding the conditions that cultivate and sustain flourishing human lives. Whilst much of the work being conducted focuses on intervention at the level of the individual, it is equally important that scientific efforts be directed at intervening at the level of groups and whole communities. After providing some examples of work currently being done at the community level, an outline of the chapters presented in this section is provided.

Keywords: happiness, well-being, interventions, science, new economics foundation, community
