Michel Lescure is Professor of Economic and Social History at the University of Paris X-Nanterre, France. His publications on business and financial history include Les banques, l'Etat et le marché immobilier en France à l'époque contemporaine (Paris, 1982), PME et croissance économique en France dans les années 1920 (Paris, 1996), Banques locales et banques régionales en Europe au XXe siècle, edited with Alain Plessis (Paris, 2004).
