Abstract and Keywords

This article sketches a single trajectory—or at least, a cluster of closely related trajectories—that takes off from the Sellarsian corpus. Perhaps it is better to say that this trajectory incorporates the Sellarsian corpus as a significant moment in its historical development, since the ideas explained here trace their influence also to such philosophers as Wittgenstein, the classical American pragmatists, Heidegger, Hegel, and Kant. Indeed, one of the important thematic innovations of the Sellarsian legacy is the tracing of an intelligible historical thread that moves through and discerns common themes from these figures and others.

Keywords: Sellarsian philosophy, Wittgenstein, American pragmatists, historical development, twenty-first century
